Residents Parking – Tories ignoring local residents

by michaelandrewes on 21 July, 2014

Local people have been shocked to learn that the new Tory run council will ignore their views on residents parking.
In a decision on Thursday, they are proposing to snub people’s wish for residents parking here between 59%- 72% in a survey said they wanted residents parking introduced here.
Lib Dem Councillors Michael Andrewes and Hugh Mason have vowed to fight for residents’ wishes.
Even most of those that personally don’t want a residents parking scheme think it should be a majority decision. The Lib Dems promised that we would listen to local people. We are doing exactly that. And I am fighting for what local residents want!
I am also campaigning along with my colleague Cllr Hugh Mason for a three pronged strategy. Introducing residents parking where they want it like here. Taking out unnecessary yellow lines. And campaigning for a practical way to bring Park and Ride to Southsea – not the Tories’ pie in the sky!
Everywhere else that people have “voted” in a survey by such a large percentage for residents parking, it has been introduced. It is unfair not to do so here!

he Conservative traffic boss is proposing to take the decision that “That no further action is taken in response to the survey conducted in May 2014 of the areas around MC Zone.” (That is in these areas)
